About This Association

US Speedskating is a non-profit organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and the International Skating Union as the governing body for the sport of speedskating in the United States. Its mission is to be one of the premier speedskating organizations in the world through excellence in leadership, development and performance. To date, US Speedskating has won 88 Olympic Winter Games medals. In 2002, US Speedskating (formerly the United States International Speedskating Association) merged with the Amateur Skating Union to create a unified governing body for the sport of speedskating in the United States. US Speedskating National Headquarters is located in Salt Lake City, UT, at the Utah Olympic Oval. Both the long track and short track national training programs are based at the Oval, allowing athletes to train in both disciplines. US Speedskating is a member of the US Olympic Committee (USOC) and the International Skating Union (ISU). As well as national training programs, US Speedskating is responsible for the grassroots development of speedskating. The organization supports athlete development camps along with coaching and officials’ training across the country.
